The Tidewater School reaches out and touches the lives of our students, their families and our community.
- Students: The children are active participants in caring for the environment. They are compassionate in identifying the invisible members of our society: the forgotten, the sick, the homeless, the hungry. Respecting their awareness and desire to make a difference, the staff empowers the children to initiate new projects or join in existing ones. Our students have used their energy to help UNICEF, Heifer International, The World Wildlife Fund, Pennies for Peace, Friends of Native American Elders, Calvert Hospice, the Calvert Food Pantry and Safe Harbor homeless shelter just to name a few. Tidewater also has a very active 4-H program and participates in the annual Calvert County Fair livestock show and exhibits..
- Families: Our families have a history of working for the good of the community. Not only are the parents actively involved in the good work of the students, they are often the key at assisting the children to become visible in the community through their volunteer efforts both in and out of the school. Our families also put into practice the old adage that charity begins at home and have rallied often to provide meals and support to those in need within our school family.
- Community: The Tidewater School has an open door non-discrimination policy. Our staff has continued to reach beyond our immediate population to make a difference in the lives of other children. " Our students have used their energy to help UNICEF, Heifer International, The World Wildlife Fund, Pennies for Peace, Friends of Native American Elders, Calvert Hospice, the Calvert Food Pantry and Safe Harbor homeless shelter just to name a few.
