The primary objective of the program is to provide a quality environment for learning. This not only includes warm and caring supervision, a safe classroom, and a stimulating environment; it means a healthy atmosphere. Please do not send your child to school when you are aware that s/he is ill. There will be times when a child becomes ill at school and every effort will be made to keep the child comfortable while waiting for you to come to take him/her home. If you or your emergency back up person will not be available on certain days, please alert us as to other alternatives. We request that all parents file an emergency medical care card with Calvert Memorial Hospital.  It is the parent's responsibility to do this.

We will expect you to alert us to any medical condition which we will need to monitor. Medications will be NOT be given except in extreme situations, such as allergic reaction or asthma inhalation treatments. The necessary forms must be completed by the parent and physician. Such medications must be in the prescription bottle with the child's name and directions on the bottle. This policy is mandated by the State of Maryland. We are unable to administer routine medications as we do not have a registered nurse on staff. In addition, school personnel are not allowed to administer any non-prescriptions medications, such as Tylenol, cough syrup, or vitamins.
