Message from our Head of School
Alisa Anania
Welcome! I am delighted to welcome you to The Tidewater School. Established in 1986, we are an independent Montessori community deeply committed to providing an educational experience that promotes knowledge and independence, encourages innovation and creativity, builds confidence and compassion and prepares our students for success in their lives.

It is wonderful that you are considering a Montessori education for your child. It is an educational approach that values and holds dear the human spirit and promotes a view of the child as one who is eager to learn, naturally curious, and capable of initiating work in a warm, nurturing, and thoughtfully designed community environment. Our students enjoy a rich academic program where they learn to ask questions, take chances, think creatively, develop strong friendships, and work together to solve challenges.

Our dedicated and professional faculty is committed to creating a nurturing yet challenging environment where our students flourish intellectually, emotionally, socially, and independently while providing a developmentally appropriate, hands-on, authentic Montessori school experience.
Tidewater thrives on family involvement. We encourage parents and even grandparents to become active participants and partners in our learning community. Opportunities abound to connect with other Tidewater families and staff. From field trips and workshops to family events and celebrations, we are thrilled to have you here.
We are incredibly proud of the work we do at Tidewater School and welcome your questions and thoughts. We hope to share our school community with you and your family. You are welcome to spend time observing classrooms, speaking with our faculty, and experiencing first-hand a bit of life at Tidewater School. We hope a visit will inspire your curiosity and interest. Please take a moment to call the school and schedule a visit. We are happy to show you all that Tidewater has to offer.

Warmly, Alisa Anania Head of School
